Meet Tamara!

Welcome to Heard & Healed!

+

I'm a 34 year old Jersey girl, turned Georgia peach!

I received my B.S in Psychology and I am currently a Special Education Teacher, working with children on the Autism Spectrum. I am a huge Mental Health Advocate and passionate about ending the stigma.

+

I believe that authenticity should never be traded for the approval of others, and wanted to create a space for anyone to know that their voice matters and so do their stories.

Telling our truths and having the courage to do so, isn't always comfortable, but I hope you know that the two are never signs of weakness

My Story

Like many people, I am no stranger to a battle with depression and suicide ideation, and it’s a battle that almost took my life in 2019. After that experience, I knew it was time to start using my voice and speaking up about the things that were happening in my mind and overall life. Between finally being open with family and friends, and making the courageous decision to begin my therapy journey - I began to experience this truth: as my voice was being Heard, those broken pieces of my heart were being Healed.

As a result, I wanted to create a space that allowed others to experience that same truth, and from there Heard and Healed was born. For the last year, I’ve gotten the opportunity to connect with individuals that I know I would have never met if it weren’t for this space and I’m thankful for the many people who have chosen to partner with Heard & Healed, and offer their vulnerability to the many people connecting with their stories.

As we continue on this journey, my heart desires to serve as a financial resource for those who are ready to take the next step in their healing journey through therapy, but cannot afford the sessions. Since October 2021, Heard and Healed has been partnering with a local practice - Canopy & Light who offers those sessions to H&H participants at a discounted rate. Anyone that makes the courageous decision to begin working through trauma and choosing to no longer be bound to their pasts, should not be denied that opportunity because of finances, so I will do all I can to not only serve as a safe space for others to share their stories, but serve as a space that allows others to experience the healing and freedom that therapy can provide.

If you have a heart to partner with H&H in this effort, you can make a donation of any size here.

We have an opportunity to come together and serve as a form of hope and aid in someone’s healing journey. Let’s do what we can to break the stigma surrounding mental health and give others a chance to experience the truth that their voice matters, their story matters and they matter!
